Mathers Construction Team Selected to Renovate
Leyburn Library at Washington & Lee University
(Waynesboro, VA) Mathers Construction
Team was selected by Washington & Lee University to completely renovate and upgrade the main floor of Leyburn Library. SFCS, Inc. of Roanoke is providing architectural
design services. Mathers will build a new library entrance to provide easier access to the building with greater visibility at night. The 30,000 s.f. central hall will be
reconfigured to be more open in order to provide the library with a 21st century look and greater flexibility as technology changes. To improve student collaboration, the central hall will feature contemporary workgroup areas, WiFi-enabled e-mail kiosks, laptop recharging stations and several workstations. Mathers Construction Team craftsmen will build and install new soffits, walls, shelving modules, and oversee interior masonry work. Mathers will manage the installation of new ceilings, lighting, flooring, library casework and a redesigned air distribution system. The $1.2 million project is in progress with completion slated for January of 2009.
Mathers Construction Team is pleased
to be selected as the general contractor for this prestigious renovation project. Leyburn Library represents the academic and research heart of the university. All renovation
work will be performed while maintaining the routine operations of the library. There will be easy access for students, faculty members and handicapped individuals to the four
lower floors of the library.
The project leadership team for this
renovation project includes: Charles Duvel, PhD, Project Manager; Don Froehlich, Project Superintendent; and John Mohme, Senior Estimator.
